About The Clinician
Kristin is a dedicated Master’s student in Mental Health Counseling at Bowie State University, driven by her passion to make a positive impact in the lives of others. With her empathetic nature and strong communication skills, she excels in building trusting relationships with her clients. Through her coursework and practical experiences, Kristin continually deepens her understanding of counseling theories and techniques, preparing herself to address the diverse needs of individuals facing mental health challenges. With her expected graduation in May 2025, Kristin is poised to embark on a fulfilling career path, where she will contribute her knowledge and compassion to promote healing and well-being in her community.
Kristin brings a unique blend of professional and volunteer experiences to her practice. Prior to pursuing her degree, she worked as a Professional Organizer, assisting clients in navigating through their personal challenges and finding clarity amidst chaos. Her commitment to community extends beyond her academic pursuits, as evidenced by her involvement in neighborhood volunteerism initiatives. In addition, Kristin dedicated her time to volunteering with Food and Friends in DC, delivering prepared meals and groceries to individuals affected by terminal illness, showcasing her compassion and dedication to supporting vulnerable populations. With a primary focus on working with young adults, adults, and families, Kristin is driven to create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their mental health concerns and work towards holistic healing and growth.
Kristin’s passion for assisting those in need is matched by her desire to make a targeted impact, particularly within the demographic of young women of color aged 19-25. Recognizing the unique challenges and systemic barriers that these individuals often face, Kristin is driven to provide specialized support tailored to their experiences. Drawing from her own journey and understanding the importance of representation and culturally sensitive care, she seeks to empower young women of color to navigate complex societal pressures, build resilience, and reclaim their narratives. Kristin envisions utilizing a blend of Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Person-Focused approaches to provide a holistic framework for healing and growth. Through these modalities, she aims to foster self-awareness, challenge negative thought patterns, and cultivate a sense of agency, ultimately guiding her clients towards greater self-acceptance and fulfillment.
