About The Clinician

Serena earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from McDaniel College in 2015. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and aims to continue her academic journey toward earning a Doctorate in Psychology.

While Serena is new to the clinical mental health setting, she brings years of experience from working in a school environment with children and adolescents on the autism spectrum and those with various learning disabilities and behavioral challenges. Since 2015, she has collaborated with colleagues to support families by building behavior plans and goals that foster independence and provide a more structured, stress-free environment both at home and at school.

Serena has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults aged 7-21 and has also worked closely with families, developing goals and individualized education plans to help students meet their desired outcomes, whether that be post-secondary education, vocational training, or community engagement. Serena incorporates Solution-Focused, Emotion-Focused (EFT), Narrative, Collaborative, and Motivational Interviewing approaches in her therapy practice. She is open to adopting new therapeutic techniques to best meet the needs of her clients. Serena strongly believes in the importance of trauma-focused therapy, as it plays a crucial role in understanding a client’s past and guiding the healing process. By addressing trauma, she aims to avoid roadblocks in the therapeutic journey, helping clients experience growth and healing at their own pace.

Serena’s ideal clients are couples, families, and children. She feels well-equipped to handle issues such as relationship difficulties, self-esteem struggles, anxiety, attachment issues, and ADHD. Her experience working with children and adolescents with autism provides her with a strong foundation for supporting clients facing similar challenges.
